ARC Review~ Ivory and Bone

I can't believe I again waited this long to finish this book. This book was a masterpiece. Something crafted so beautifully people will be remembering Ivory and Bone for decades.
Since I rated it 5 out of 5 stars, here are five of my most memorable quotes from this book

~Review~

I am going to try as hard as possible not to sound like a complete and utter fangirl while writing this review, because that is what I have become, a complete and utter fangirl

I am not to sure if I have yet to say this about any novel this year, but Ivory and Bone is being put on my favourite reads of 2016. It was a masterpiece that was crafted by a very talented author. It's crazy to think that this is Julie Eshbaugh debut novel. By reading this book I would've assumed that she had published many books before. Everything about this book spoke to me as a reader. From the carefully crafted characters, to the well thought out storyline. Ivory and Bone was brilliant and fully deserves a 5 out of 5 star rating.

I have read many novels, but I don't believe I have ever read many books told in the point of view of second person. I think parts of me may have strayed away from that kind of POV because I felt as though it becomes harder to connect with the story itself and characters right away. However all my doubts were tossed out the window after finishing this book. I was astonished at how well this POV helped me get involved into the story. How the POV transported me as reader into the book. I loved the lead in chapter to help get you situated and then the last chapter to lead you out of the story. Everything about the POV was orchestrated so well.

Along to go with the excellent use of the POV the storyline was even more brilliant. I loved the suspence and adventure elements added to this story. I enjoyed reading about all the planned hunts, the gatherings, and the traditions mentioned in this story. Th extra added detail made me love the story even more. Not only did it add to the story though, it also allowed for me as a reader to connect to the story. I felt like I was experiencing it all, I mean yes the second person added to that, but the way everything else was displayed was wonderful.  The characters, settings, and events that unfolded all allowed this book to move at an even pace. A pace that promitted the story to unfold everything at an ease that made the story just flow and have no hiccups.

The characters were all displayed in a fashion that let me as a reader connect with them individually and as a group. The background characters I felt were equally as important as the main characters. Each had their own prospects and characteristics were special. Also each developed in their own manner. The development was subtle, but was there enough not to go unnoticed. This book had a handful of important characters, and never one was it confusing as to who the story or main character was referring too. All in all, Julie craved characters that will be remembered time and time again.

Overall, this story did it for me, everything about it made me love it even more. I would highly recommend this book to those who enjoy reading books in second person and to those who like reading books that involve tradition and culture. The plot was portrayed beautifully and the characters were written so well that it made it easy to connect with them all. If you do pick up this book I hope that you enjoy it as much as I got too.

Oh wow, so happy you enjoyed this one! I had a hard time connecting to the world and adjusting to the second person perspective.
